Spring Campout 2018

All 23rd Oaklanders scouts and their families are welcome to join us for our spring campout, from 3:00 PM on Friday, March 23rd to noon on Sunday, March 25th at the Hall Valley Group Site in Joseph Grant Park. It is about an hour and a half from Oakland. Travel to the park by taking Highway 680 to Alum Rock Avenue eastbound in San Jose. Turn right onto Mt. Hamilton Road and travel eight miles to reach the park entrance. Quimby Road is an alternate road to the park but is not the recommended route (it is narrow and very steep in sections). The gates are locked at sunset but we may be able to make arrangements with the park rangers for late arrivals.

The cost of the trip $15 per camper (covering two dinners, two breakfasts, one lunch—and coffee!) Children 3 and under are free. If cost would prevent you from joining in please talk to Shannon. Scouts will prepare and serve meals as a group, and the menu plan will be drafted based on the allergies and dietary considerations of those participating. You are also welcome to bring along additional snacks, drinks, etc. for your family. No alcohol is permitted at scout events.

Families should bring their own tents, sleeping bags, and dishware—a plate, fork, and mug for each person—along with other personal camping gear such as sunscreen, flashlights, bug repellent, etc. Scouts should come in uniform. If you need to borrow gear we can probably set you up!

Please register via PayPal (or contact Shannon if you prefer to pay with cash or check):
